Every day we come to tough decisions. We have to decide whether or not to get up. We then have to decide what mood we will be in that day. Then we walk and breathe and live by our minute to minute decisions. Even the things that seem insignificant can have lasting effects. That one piece of candy opens you to devouring the entire bag and before you know it, you are carrying some extra poundage.

God helps us during these times of choice. We can choose to exist or we can choose to live. The rich young man in Matthew 19. Jesus gave him an invitation to live. All he had to do was sell what he had and follow the one who gave life. Instead the man choose to exist with his possessions and walked away from the memorable journey we find in the Gospel.

When God directs our path, we have to choose to follow God along the life-giving journey or hang back in existence as we best see fit. The choice is ours. But we can trust in God's promise when we're told, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10).
